Hey everyone! My name is Jennifer Levin and I am a journalism student at the University of Missouri in Columbia! My goal is to focus on magazine journalism and receive a minor in fashion as well.
When I was younger, I had the world’s worst sense of fashion. Basketball shorts and T-shirts were my go-to look along with a slicked back pony. Cute, right? No. Well as the years went on, I developed a talent for photography. Starting out small with my little point and shoot camera, I began to take pictures of plants, buildings, you name it. Eventually, my passion for working a camera turned into me exploring other photographers’ work. I picked up my first Vanity Fair magazine and saw the wonderful world of fashion photography right before my eyes. I told myself that this is what I wanted to pursue. I am to strive for success in the fashion photography world. With an intended major in magazine journalism and a minor in fashion, I am set on the path towards my dream and being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am another step closer towards achieving my goals.
I was born and raised in the Northern suburbs of the Chicagoland area. Coming from an area so close to a major city, I have always encountered new and exciting fashion trends, but experiencing Chicago’s fashion scene wasn’t enough for me. When I was 16, I was accepted into the summer high school program through NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Photography and Imaging. I then went to New York City and lived in the dorms of NYU for a month while I took daily photography and imaging classes. This became the moment that defined my fashion photography career. I got to experience fashion trends from the hub of all things fashion. From walking around in Soho, the Upper East Side, Brooklyn, etc. I learned to have an eye for a great sense of style and appearance.
I would describe my personal style as both trendy, chic and random. I love fashion for all it has to offer. One day you may find me in an edgy pair of ripped jeans with a leather jacket, and another day you may see me rocking a pair of boho flowy pants with a wide-sleeved sheer top and wavy long hair. The look I am sporting in this post is a laced-up basic T-shirt, suede shorts, a white fitted blazer and some strappy gladiator sandals. A perfect casual yet classic look one can wear from day to night! Many of these items, as well as many items of clothing I own in general, are from Akira.
I can’t wait to begin blogging on my own fashion as well as the fashion around me this summer! I hope you all enjoy reading my articles!
