Hey, guy and gal pals! My name is Jeremiah Butler and I am a sophomore at Philadelphia University studying fashion merchandising and management.
Fashion for me became a huge part of my life as a junior in high school when I was in charge of creating and styling a look for my school’s annual fashion show. I fell in love with the process of sewing, styling, and set design in a matter of months. I took a leap of faith by deciding to pursue a newfound hobby into a life-long career and I haven’t looked back since.
I describe my style as a melting pot of all the different style types. My taste ranges from a perfectly tailored shirt to ripped denim, to a sweatsuit combo and a pair of sneakers. I am also very into DIY projects and making old pieces new. I always choose pieces that intrigue me whether that be due to the structure of the garment, the feel of the fabric, or the color. Although, I tend to gravitate towards earth tone because of my warm skin.
As I mentioned before, if you have warm skin like myself, earth tones are your best friend. I decided to wear this pair of wine slim fit chinos with a simple distressed black T-shirt. I paired this look with a denim jacket that I hand distressed to give it a bit of edge. I completed this outfit with a pair of Puma Suede Classics, one of the most versatile pairs of sneakers on the market.
With a new year comes new beginnings, new goals, and a new attitude for the future. While most people are hoping to get fit, budget better, or get more organized for the new year, I am striving to create a space in the fashion industry where young men, like myself, can feel comfortable in what they’re wearing, while also influencing others to do the same. I am eternally grateful to the CollegeFashionista team for choosing me as a style guru for the spring semester and for letting me share my vision with all of you.
