Because I like to wear skirts and dresses, people often ask me, “What are you all dressed up for?” Even though I get this question on a regular basis, I always respond, “Ummmm…life.”
My fascination with fashion began with my first magazine subscriptions: Teen Vogue and Lucky. I’d flip through the pages, admiring clothes I couldn’t afford (I was only 13). Though my adolescent years were plagued with oversized t-shirts and bejeweled jeans, I think I turned out alright in the end.
I’m currently studying News Media at Brigham Young University, and I hope to be a magazine editor someday—maybe something with fashion, maybe something with science. In my free time, I watch comedy TV, read magazines and go retail-therapy shopping.
People have described my style as urban-eclectic chic and funky-classic. I’ve never been great at art, so dressing up is one of the ways I express myself. You can find me wearing multiple patterns in one outfit (because cheetah print is a neutral, obviously). I love my cheetah print skirt, which I pair with patterned tights. Then, because I want to keep my look laid-back, I throw on my trusty Gap denim jacket and some classic, black Keds. I accessorize with cheap H&M sunglasses, a heart necklace, and some bracelets from China and Hawaii.
I figured I’d be an okay Style Guru because I already walk around campus analyzing people’s outfits. Now I’ll just get to write about them, too!
