Hello there! My name is Jess. This is my very first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited! I am a junior at Florida State University, studying retail merchandising and product development. I just transferred to Florida State this fall, after completing my associate of arts degree in finance/marketing from Indian River State College.
Between my classes, you can find me snacking on Chick-fil-A, formulating my next outfit inspiration on Pinterest, listening to the Hamilton soundtrack, or catching up with sweet friends. Eating ice cream is a daily ritual and nonnegotiable.
I pride myself with being an excellent bargain shopper. Don’t get me wrong, splurging on a quality, long-lasting addition to your wardrobe is absolutely necessary. However, being a broke college student and living on a budget, that mostly gets spent on food, does not make a compatible match with my desire to have the latest and greatest styles. So, I shop strategically. I wait for sales, I print coupons, and I strike when the price is right. My style is ever changing and immensely dependent on my mood (or amount of sleep I got last night).
I’m currently exploring multiple career paths in fashion. I’m primarily interested in product development and developing my own brand/line one day. Until then, I’m content playing any role in the fashion industry. I truly enjoy every aspect of fashion and hope to explore all areas.
The outfit I am wearing perfectly demonstrates my love for all black, all the time. Along with my new favorite trend: OTK (over the knee) boots! I believe the key to a great monochrome outfit is one simple pop of color or interesting feature (textures or metallics). I paired this black turtleneck sweater dress with black OTK boots, and a statement bracelet to finish it off.
