Hello to all my fellow style lovers. My name is Jillian James. I’m currently a freshman at the University of Central Florida. I am thrilled to be writing for CollegeFashionista for a second semester! My current major is journalism and my minor is creative writing, which is largely due to the fact that math gives me hives.
I really enjoyed my first semester of college. Writing for CollegeFashionista and various campus media outlets really solidified the fact that writing is something I would love to do as a career. Growing up, my favorite thing to do was read fashion magazines. In middle school, opening my new issue of Seventeen magazine would be the highlight of my week (who am I kidding, it’s still the highlight of my week).
My personal style has definitely evolved over the years. I went through an edgy phase, a preppy phase and even a sporty phase (even though the only sport I ever played was one year of softball in the third grade). Now I think that I have finally found a sense of style that truly suits me. I describe my style as being “boho-chic.” My style icon will always and forever be Lauren Conrad. My favorite store is Free People and I’m usually wearing a floral print or something with lace detailing.
My absolute favorite thing to wear is a romper, particularly a printed one. It’s the perfect casual outfit because it’s very easy to throw on, yet looks put-together. Currently, my favorite style of shoe is the bootie. I’ve also been experimenting with bright lipstick colors for spring.
In my free time, I love to read for fun, eat bagels, drink iced chai tea lattes and call my mom to ask her how to do laundry. I also love going to sporting events and plan on joining a sorority.
I can’t wait to share more fabulous looks from the students here at UCF. Here’s to another semester of great style!
