Hello Fashionistas! I’m Josie West, and this will be my first year with CollegeFashionista! I’m so excited to be able to showcase Texas A&M University’s style for all of you to see.
A little bit about me, I’m a senior communication major with a minor in business at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. I’m originally from a very small, and extremely humid town in Southeast Texas called Beaumont. I live with four of my best friends, and three of our dogs (not as bad as it sounds)! My absolute favorite thing to do is travel. From a Style Guru perspective, it’s liberating to be able to wear absolutely anything I want with no concern over what others consider “normal”. While at home I tend to stick with what I know, and get stuck in a style rut. Traveling is my opportunity to try out all of those new trends I’ve been pinning like crazy.
My love for fashion came at an early age. I specifically remember shopping for my eighth grade banquet dress with my mom, and going to Saks 5th Avenue in the Houston Galleria. It only took one trip to the historic department store to have me hooked. From then on there was no question what I wanted to do with my life.
A person’s style, in my opinion, goes beyond what they’re wearing. Style is a product of someone’s entire life, experiences, struggles, and everything in between. So much is said just by what articles of clothing you put on your body, it’s crazy! It truly is the first impression of all first impressions. The only way I can think of to describe my style is classic. I do believe less is more the majority of the time, and statement pieces are everything. I love to play around with textures, different necklines, and things of that sort. My fashion choices are heavily inspired by some of my favorite people including Jackie O., Kate Middleton, and Lauren Conrad. This may seem like an odd combination of idols, but Jackie and Kate are, like I said, inspirations. My lifestyle just isn’t lavish or glamorous enough to wear what they do. But you bet, if Julie Andrews ever shows up to tell me I’m the Princess of Genovia, we’ll have identical closets! Lauren Conrad, on the other hand, is a more realistic day-to-day version of my royal icons.
As for my featured outfit in this article I chose one of my favorite looks. This top found at Zara was a must-have for my wardrobe! I’m obsessed with bell sleeves at the moment, so there was no way I was leaving without this top! My earrings are, of course, Baublebar. If you’re ever doubting yourself on accessory choices, just go with Baublebar. Everything available on their site is flawless.
Thank y’all for reading my first article, I’m looking forward to many more and a great year as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru!
