Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Joslyn Arteaga and I am so excited to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester. I’m from Long Island, New York and I love spending my days and nights in the city, so most say I’m a total city girl with a drive for fashion. I am a senior at Ithaca College, with a double major in International Business and Marketing. I love traveling and exploring new places. I believe it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself, plus, hello, all the food you get to try.
Last fall, I was given the opportunity to study abroad in London and through this experience I discovered many things about myself. Throwing myself into a completely new environment helped me figure out what I’m good at, as well as what I’m not good at. I felt connected as a global citizen, by immersing myself in the London community. I was exposed to many different types of people, discovered new and exciting foods, took in different unique styles, and had the privilege of visiting other countries. Although my visits were short, I created great experiences and real connections with those around me. Aside from that, the fashion and culture of England, Italy, and Spain, were an incentive to foster my own personal style. I can’t say I have one specific style since it’s always evolving, but I believe clothing reflects personality. People usually wear what they love and what makes them feel good about themselves and their style represents who they are.
I wanted to keep this look a little casual so I decided to pair a black hoodie with a brown cashmere oversized cardigan which is a total must for a cold laid back day. I’m also wearing a pair of black booties I found in a small boutique I came across in London (my go-to shoe). As per accessories, I threw on my Ray-Ban glasses and a fab fur cross-body purse to complete the look.
Waking up for classes this semester is going to be rough—but not quite as rough as getting dressed in the morning. Just think: nothing looks right, clothes are piled everywhere, and you’re about a second away from pretending you’re sick. It can be grueling at times trying to come up with a trendy outfit, I feel you. So, I’m excited to show my personal style and new college fashion trends to inspire those around me who also have a hard time trying to pick out an outfit! So, stay tuned!
