Hey there! My name is Judy Liu, and I’m a freshman at Indiana University working toward a Business major with Apparel Merchandising minor. I’m from Taiwan and have lived in Indiana for five years now. People always ask me, “Why Indiana when there are so many other states to choose from?” Well, my answer will always be the same—This is where I have found my second home, and I have never once regretted it.
My mother has always been in the retail industry. She owns her own luxury brand department store, which developed my interest to different kinds of style and fashion trends. Since I was little, I have always loved playing dress up and using all the different brands from my mother’s store. It is my way of feeling confident in my own shoes and that is how I became who I am today.
I have never felt comfortable in my own body, but fashion has changed that. I try to dress up everyday even if I’m just going out for ice cream (my favorite). When I say dress up, it’s not putting on my Giuseppe Zanotti heels with Yves Saint Laurent lipstick and a Valentino sheer dress. Dressing up to me means wearing something I feel beautiful in and something that keeps me happy. There are certain key items that I like to wear in different seasons to create a superb look. This winter, over-the-knee boots have been in trend, and this is one of the many items that I love wearing. They look stunning with almost everything such as skinny jeans, flare pants, tights, dresses and skirts. These boots create an illusion of model legs and gives a nice, sleek touch to a simple, minimal outfit. Whenever you are unsatisfied with your outfit, try and pair it with a key item that makes you stand out from the rest.
My styles are inspired by various fashion and lifestyle bloggers. If I have to describe my personal style, I would say it’s a mix of different things from feminine-classy look to edgy-chic look. I don’t like to settle down for just one type of style because there are so many talented designers out there with different options for me (and my closet, of course). I love looking at strangers’ outfit and sometimes I even sit outside Starbucks staring at people walking by (I promise I’m not a stalker). It amazes me all the time the way people dress to express their own personality.
I cannot wait to share all the upcoming winter and spring styles to you all at Indiana University. I will be featuring different styles that I adore and sharing many fashion tips for you. I hope I can help those who lack confidence, like I used to, to discover the beauty of feeling marvelous of being yourself.
