Hello fashion lovers! My name is Judy Yu and I live in New York City. I am a student at Baruch College studying Digital Marketing. In my downtime, I love strolling through the city and catching up with friends. As an art aficionado, I love visiting museums—I could spend hours wandering through the MoMA. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I am super excited for the fall!
From a young age, fashion has always been a prevalent part of my life. As a child, I would spend hours sketching designs with different patterns and colors. My mom worked in the fashion industry so I had the chance to tag along with her to fittings.
Through the years, my style has changed drastically. Middle school consisted of Hollister Co. sweatshirts and Abercrombie & Fitch logo T-shirts. In high school, I wore anything that was trendy. The start of college ushered in my exploration of different styles and this was the time when my style truly emerged. I would describe my personal style as relaxed minimalism. I love wearing basics and making a statement with shoes or accessories. Like any New Yorker, black is a staple in my wardrobe. Not only does black look good on everyone, but it also goes well with every color. My friends make fun of the fact that only three colors seem to exist in my wardrobe: black, white and gray. I love wearing a nice basic T-shirt with a pair of loose fitted trousers.
I find inspiration from anywhere. Living in New York City is like being in a fashion show everyday. I can always spot a Fashionista walking down Broadway and even on the subways. Of course, social media influences my style. I love scrolling through Tumblr and Instagram looking at the latest styles from fashion bloggers; WeWoreWhat is one of my favorite bloggers. As a Style Guru, I hope to inspire you in your fashion endeavors and share the styles of many Fashionistas/os with you. Remember, style is not what’s in magazines, it’s what makes you confident and ready to conquer the world.
