Hello! My name is Julia Ludington, and I am a rising junior student at Villanova University. I am majoring in communication and minoring in business. As an avid lover of fashion from my very earliest days, I dream of one day opening my own clothing boutique or working in PR for a fashion company.
I am someone who is very introspective and observant, and I enjoy examining the details of my surroundings. I love photographs, landscapes, magazine layouts, interior design and, of course, fashion. As a child, my parents watched me color at our kitchen table for hours on end, where I combined unexpected Crayola Crayon colors on Disney princess gowns. When I became older, I created movies with my friends for which I wrote scripts and picked out costumes. Now, as a young adult, my favorite part of the day is getting dressed in the morning. I love creating mood boards and collages of photos from various magazines of looks I love. I have styled friends for events and am obsessed with the art that is fashion.
My love of fashion is also related to my interest in stories. I am passionate in the pursuit of creating my own story, as well as learning about the journeys of others. What someone chooses to wear tells us so much about who they are, as well as who they want to be. A bracelet with a quirky saying on it may tell us much about a person, just as a pair of sneakers or a favorite sweatshirt might.
Fashion allows us to express ourselves every day. When we wake up in the morning, we are faced with a question: Who do we want to be? The answer can change many times in someone’s life. It has already changed many times in mine!
For these photos, I wanted to choose a look that pinpointed my style. Recently, I have been inspired by ’90s grunge looks as well as military incorporations such as bomber jackets, aviators and camouflage.
I’m wearing a camouflage cropped shirt and MOTO “Mom” jeans that you can find at Topshop. I also add classic Ray-Ban aviators to this outfit in the summer. My sandals are Steve Madden. I decided to add an unexpected pop of color with a pink cross-body bag. Finally, I added one of my favorite accessories: my Carrie Bradshaw-inspired nameplate necklace.
I hope that my looks and articles encourage others to create their own narrative through fashion: an art specific to each person, yet always beautiful.
