Some know me as the unique girl from Detroit, Michigan, studying at Indiana University, where I am currently a sophomore pursuing Apparel Merchandising. Then, some know me as the fearless and motivated girl with an extreme desire to make it in the fashion world. The name is Julie Anne, call me Jules for short. I hope you all can get to know a little bit about me through my work this semester!
I became interested in fashion when I started working in the retail industry. I also have to give credit to my university in helping me to uncover my true passion for fashion. My school is home to every type of individual, which continually inspires me to never be afraid to be who I am, even if it is a little different than everyone else. After being lucky enough to attend Teen Vogue’s Fashion University at their headquarters in New York City, I have never been more inspired to chase my dreams of thriving in this industry and reaching my full potential. It was eye opening to listen to incredible fashion icons, such as Zac Posen and Rebecca Minkoff, share their story on how it all started for them in the industry, as well as their inspiration behind their current collections.
I love being different and standing out, and fashion is my outlet to display who I am. The outfit I am wearing is one of my go-to outfits. I start by throwing on high-waisted jean shorts and a graphic crop top. Since it’s getting a little cooler at night, a neutral cardigan can be matched with just about anything. I am a complete sucker for Timberlands since they go with so many outfits during any season, especially the pair with white soles, since they are different than the usual style. Finally adding a little more personality, I am wearing my favorite Alex and Ani bracelets and a bohemian double layer necklace.
If there is one thing you should know about me, it is that I have been a shoe lover ever since I could walk. I think shoes can really make or break an outfit. As far as the rest of my style goes, it is eclectic to say the least and truly represents my moods. One day, you can find me in my favorite and classy all-black romper, and then another day you can find me in a more grunge type outfit. “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world,” stated by Marilyn Monroe, is my motto and shoes are my obsession.
