Greetings my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Kaamilah (pronounced: kuh-mee-luh) and I am a senior finance major at Lehigh University. Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, this transition across states has been a challenging yet rewarding experience for me. I am interested in investment banking, law, entrepreneurship and the tech industry and I hope to merge all of these fields by entering into the world of venture capital. I plan to attend law school after graduating, but my ultimate career goal is to establish my own business. Although I consider myself to be a detail-oriented, analytical person, I also have an innovative, creative mindset that has driven me to achieve success in every way possible. I am classically trained in piano and have been playing since the age of three. Additionally, as a yogi, I am a constant advocate for a healthy mind, body and spirit. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, writing, reading, drawing and cooking.
As a business student, I am often wearing a suit to class. However, I would overall describe my style as minimalistic, classy and professional with an urban flare. In the featured photos above, I am wearing a simple, basic knit sweater paired with light wash jeans. I added a structured wool jacket and a few accessories for a pop of color. To avoid turning minimalism into monotony, I always make sure that I add a fun accessory to my outfit.
I am passionate about researching the latest trends, piecing outfits together and expressing my own style through the inspiration I gain from icons in the industry. I am incredibly thankful for this invaluable opportunity to be a Style Guru intern at CollegeFashionista, and cannot wait to see where this journey will lead. From this position, I hope to share the few tips and tricks I have learned when it comes to “ballin’ on a budget” as a college student. Passion is more than a term that simply describes a form of emotion. This intense feeling, strong enthusiasm and eager desire contains a deeper meaning—passion serves as a positive avenue to place your personal interests and admirations in order to develop your own personal brand. I want to help my fellow Fashionistas/os develop their brand in the most economically efficient way possible.
Ultimately, everyone chooses their own method of where/how they draw inspiration and motivation. The key, however, is to be able to find a way to unlock the door to your true passions, and pursue your dreams. Why not live your life[in]style?
