Hi Fashionistas/os! My name is Kaitlyn Dickman, and this is my very first semester with CollegeFashionista. I’m grateful to be one of the newest style guru’s for Ohio University, where I passionately study retail merchandising and fashion product development.
Although I have considered myself a journalist for quite awhile, this is my first time taking a stab at using fashion as my main focus. I’m more than ready to share all my ideas, inspiration and style with you. I also look forward to learning more about fashion and myself in the process.
Recently I have realized that my fashion sense and style have changed by large measures over time. Previously, I would’ve spent hundreds of dollars on a pair of jeans without blinking an eye, but currently my interests (and spending habits) have dramatically changed. I have gained a strong passion for finding off-brand and less expensive look-alikes as if they are straight off the runways of Paris. I’ve been very successful at doing so, to say the least.
For my very first style guru bio I chose a look that resembles everyone’s inner tomboy. I achieved this by matching a simple, yet classic navy and white striped T-shirt with my favorite dark wash jeans. Although some may shy away from wearing plaid and striped patterns together, I think tying a matching flannel button-down around my waist took my outfit from ordinary to extraordinary.
For a few final touches I threw on my favorite timeless accessories including my white high-top Converse, a white Ralph Lauren twill hat and my everyday Fossil watch.
I can’t wait to see what fashion trends summer 2016 has in store for us!
