A shout out to my fellow Fashionistas/os, my name is Kaitlyn Garish and I am more than excited to be a Style Guru intern this semester. I am currently a senior at the University of Oregon studying Sociology while minoring in Media Studies. I hope to eventually pursue a career in Public Relations focused in the fashion industry. You can normally find me at one of the many campus coffee shops doing online shopping at places like TOBI, HauteLook, Free People and Nordstrom or discussing the latest trends.
The University of Oregon’s style has a very eclectic touch… no surprises there as students come from all over the country with everyone bringing their own unique look to the campus. Oregon fashion has it all, preppy chic, laid back, bohemian and everything in between. Stevie Nicks is, by far, my fashion icon—a woman taken by the wind, flaunting her gypsy and free spirited style. All black with a pop of color, whether it’s a bright colored tote, a pair of ankle boots, sunglasses with an edgy flair or a bold color lip are all some of my favorite looks.
As I head back to school, I’ll keep a close watch out for the winter trends. At the U of O, where rain is the norm, I know I am in for seeing a lot of boot trends this winter, from the most classic Hunter Boot look, a Sam Edelman sleek pair of riding boots or combat boots, just to name a few.
I am really looking forward to the time when the weather breaks the fifty/sixty degree mark in Eugene; students remove their rain gear and get an opportunity to really show off their fashion prowess. As those rain coats head back to the closet or attic and the boots head to the back of the shoe rack, spring style emerges from hibernation and exciting new styles and color are everywhere on campus. It is truly an exciting time on campus.
I hope to show you the different types of styles throughout the campus of the University of Oregon, the new and the good.
