STYLE GURU BIO: Kaitlyn Kurisky

As I sit on the couch in my new apartment, I have a front row seat to the colorful and quickly changing show called autumn. The leaves are beginning to dry up and fall lazily to the ground while eager young freshmen wander aimlessly around campus. I can’t believe that it is already the start of a new school year—and my third year in college.

As a junior I have a lot activities that I am continuing for the sixth semester, but I am also starting to make some big-picture career moves to prepare for post-graduation life. Among these are my internships at Philadelphia Magazine and CollegeFashionista. As I’ve explored majors and job options, I’ve become increasingly interested in fashion, event-planning and urban life in general. I live in Philly and attend Temple University—which means I am constantly exposed to the energy and style that is inextricably part of being in a city.

With my diverse background, moving from a small town to a big city and my myriad of interests, from culture studies to business, I have developed a unique personal style. I firmly believe in the value of classic combinations like black and white, or a well-tailored dress and red lip. However, rules are made to be broken, and fashion staples are meant to be stylized and mixed up. Among my favorite fashion risks are vibrant lip colors and statement jewelry.

In this outfit I showcase two of my favorite looks: booties and layered necklaces. I am wearing suede boots from Nine West with cuffed, high-waisted jeans from American Eagle. I wore a white top and draped sweater for a sleek color combination and then dressed the outfit up with gold jewelry. I also got a fresh cut and color that has red undertones for a richer feel for the season.
