Hey you all, or y’all as we say in the south, I am Kaitlyn Neal.
I am junior at St. Johns University in Queens, New York, where I study mass communications with a double minor in sports management and government. I’m currently obsessed with exploring New York City, observing street style, wearing Vans, checking things off my bucket list, and traveling the world!
Traveling has taught me a great deal about myself, especially the fact that I will always overpack! I’ve studied abroad in Spain, France, and Italy, and have visited 11 countries and four continents. While abroad, I learned that the basic staple pieces are the most valuable items in any wardrobe and that accessories are my best friends. I can dress anything up with a fun bag, big necklace, floral scarf, or cute coat!
During my free time, I like going out and finding new places to eat and exploring cool bookstores, as I’m rather obsessed with quotes and poetry books at the moment. I also enjoy binge watching shows and building my movie collection.
I’m a bit of an obsessive online shopper and spend hours browsing online, especially on ASOS. I love to create my style off of inspiration; rather it is a style blogger I follow on Instagram, a pin on Pinterest, or a fresh street style I saw on the streets, I’m sure to snap a picture or jot it down in my notes! My style inspiration is usually found from those around me, what I’m reading, watching, and a little about what’s currently trendy. Most importantly my inspiration comes from when I was younger, my grandmother had a bit of a fun, funky style, and I loved trying on her shirts with shoulder pads and five layers of necklaces. She created this wear-what-you-love idea even if those around you didn’t!
My style remains unrestricted, but I’m usually all about the details. I love sneakers; I feed into my necklace and bag addiction, and I love a good coat…even though I’m from Texas. For this look, I wanted to elevate a basic outfit by adding a fun embroidered bag, that seems to be quite trendy at the moment, and a pop of color from my suede sneakers! I also added my favorite ripped jeans, which can give any look more of a contemporary street style vibe. My blue jean top and basic coat remain simplistic and provide the right balance to the overall look while keeping me warm in these New York winters!
