Hi there! My name is Kaitlyn Strong and I’m studying fabric styling at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I’m excited to start my bachelor degree in the fall. I have two associates degree’s, one in fashion merchandising and one in textiles and surface design. I hope to have a career as a fashion editor for a magazine or as a stylist.
I always get inspiration from my surroundings, but living in the city inspired me to go outside of my comfort zone as a whole. I love being comfortable but still looking put together. My style varies often based on my surroundings and my mood. I have been obsessed with shopping at second-hand or thrift stores since living in the city. I love finding a piece that is unique and then pairing it with some staple pieces in my wardrobe.
One of my favorite recent finds was this button-up, midi skirt that has a unique vertical stripe pattern. I paired it with a basic horizontal-striped crop top from American Apparel and a pair of gladiator sandals for a casual day look. I love mixing different prints to make basic staple pieces more interesting. In the summer I keep things simple and don’t accessorize much but you can always find me carrying a large bag. This one is reversible so its both black and tan which make this my go-to when grabbing a bag to run out the door.
So, I hope you’ll follow me this summer during my first semester as a Style Guru!
