Hey, my fellow Fashionistas/os, my name is Kala Baker and I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this semester. I’m so excited for everything that is to come with this upcoming semester and I can’t to take you guys along for the journey with me.
I am a freshman at Madison College and plan on pursuing and career in fashion as a fashion stylist. I have always been obsessed with fashion and all that it comes with since a very young age. I remember playing ‘fashion show’ with my family after going shopping for school outfits. Mixing and matching pieces to go and show my family while they ‘ohhhed’ and ‘ahhhed’ to humor—from there my passion for fashion took off.
Throughout the years, my style has grown with me. Gone are the days of thinking that wearing a bright pink Hello Kitty top looked cute with a plaid skirt and striped tights. Instead, I now tend to go towards black leggings, a chunky scarf, oversized sweater and riding boots. Living in Wisconsin has taught me to always come prepared for the weather, especially since it can change from being very hot to insanely cold in a matter of hours. It’s because of this that layering is my best friends like in this outfit. I’m layering a denim shirt with lightweight floral pants, a chunky beanie and a white trench coat.
