Hi friends! My name is Kalpana Satish and this is my first time as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista. I am a junior studying chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. You must be wondering… chemical engineering, what is she doing here? I know it may be surprising, but trust me, engineers can have a strong sense of style too. At least this one does!
I am so excited to start this new creative venture and bring together two of my passions—writing and fashion. I’ve always had a love for any and all venues that allowed me to express myself and writing is one of them. There’s just something special about putting your thoughts into paragraphs and sharing them with the world! However, writing about fashion is new territory for me.
My friends always ask me how I can wake up for my 8 A.M. classes and still look so put together and my response is quite simple: why not? Putting together an outfit is an art and I feel compelled to master the art whether it means keeping up to date with new trends or borrowing my mom’s old clothes and calling them vintage. Either way, I was once told that you make your first impression in the first seven seconds you meet someone, so why not make it count?
On a normal day, you can find me up at 6 A.M, probably after only four hours of sleep, to get ready for class and making my daily stop at Starbucks for a soy matcha latte to get me through a day of a heavy load of homework. In my spare time, I love exploring Austin and trying new brunch spots. I highly recommend adding Austin to your bucket list of places to visit because it has an unique, hipster vibe that can’t be copied.
After starting school in Austin, my style has evolved quite a bit and I have become more adventurous with my outfits. Pinterest and Instagram are also my daily inspiration. In my free time, you can pretty much find me browsing on either account. For this winter and fall season, my go-to pieces have been my over-the-knee boots and any and every bodysuit I can get my hands on. If you don’t own either of these pieces, I highly recommend!
Now that I’ve shared a little bit about me, I’m excited to share the style around my campus throughout this spring semester. I hope you keep checking in to read more!
