Hi there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Kara Ng, and I am currently in my senior year at St. John’s University! I am studying Public Relations and I hope to pursue my career in the fashion industry. This will be my second semester with the wonderful CollegeFashionista team, and I cannot be more excited! I’ve gotten many great opportunities through this internship and I’ve met such awesome people. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this fall.
Growing up in New York City, I was and still am exposed to so many different types of people. With all the different types of people, imagine how interesting New York City fashion is? People watching has been a part of me ever since my freshman year of college, when I attended Fashion Institute of Technology. Going to class in Manhattan was so different than school in Queens, where I live. Before class, in between class and after class, I was able to see such a variety of outfits in such a short amount of time. Being so close to Manhattan has definitely helped me figure out what my style is and has given me tons of inspiration as to what to wear and what to buy.
Well, since this is all about fashion, let’s start talking about my outfit! Since we are transitioning from summer to fall, I think maxi skirts (or dresses) are perfect. They’re not as suffocating as long pants, but can still keep you warm in air conditioned classrooms. I like having one statement piece and pairing it with other pieces that are neutral, which is why I opted for a printed maxi skirt paired with a plain black tank top and black leather vest. Leather vests are also a great transition piece because, once the weather gets colder, it’ll be time to whip out the leather jackets!
It’s time to start another RAD semester as a Style Guru. I’m coming for you Fashionistas!
