STYLE GURU BIO: Karly Siegel

Hey there CollegeFashionista readers! My name is Karly Siegel (friends call me Karl) and this is my fourth semester as a Style Guru. I’m a junior at Ohio University and I am majoring in retail merchandising and fashion product development with minors in business, marketing and customer service. I am originally from Northern Virginia and I spend all my summers by the beach in Maryland.

Ohio, Virginia and Maryland all have a special place in my heart, but I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. My style tends to be more “beachy” and “boho” because I take a lot of inspiration from coastal places I travel like Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. Not only do I like to experience different cultures, but I also like to get a taste of different time periods. I have always had an interest in vintage artifacts (mostly clothes, of course) and started my collection at a young age. Finding a perfectly fitting pair of vintage Levi Brand Jeans in a thrift shop or a beautiful bag in another country is always the best!

In each of my articles that feature myself, I like to include a treasure that I found. It can either be something that’s vintage or something that I found in a store that you would never expect. Today, I am sharing with you my new Gap Outlet jeans that don’t stretch out and cost under fifty dollars. I paired them with a blush-colored tank and a pair of tassel Jeffrey Campbell heels. In my first STYLE GURU BIO, I emphasized my love for ripped jeans and heels, so I will not go over that trend again.

In order to show off my bohemian style, I styled a gold coin necklace and a fringe, patchwork bag with my outfit. Whether its on a  bag or covering an entire dress, patchwork has been making several appearances on the runway lately. If you want to stay updated on the latest runway trends and how to incorporate them into your wardrobe, keep reading my articles monthly! I look forward to sharing tons of inspiration and style tips with you this semester.
