When I was a little girl, I used to think that I was pretty cool. At five years old, if I was wearing my signature outfit, (shout out to my parents, but) I knew I was unstoppable. Throughout my childhood, I kept up with the latest fashion trends. I know I rocked the poncho in third grade, but no one could touch five-year-old me. If you saw me wearing a silver and navy puffy vest or my shimmery blue, nylon vest over a long sleeve shirt and my black flare sweatpants, you knew I meant business.
When I look back at pictures of myself in this outfit, I am immediately reminded of the confidence I had while wearing it. I think that feeling is what we should all experience every day whenever we walk out of the door. Wear what makes you proud to be you. To do so, I tried to pay tribute to my roots: my original, cool-girl style. However, I did add a modern twist, featuring my current style. Regardless, I have found that whatever age I might be, I stay true to myself and that alone gives me confidence.
I wore ripped black jeans to pay homage to the infamous black, flare sweatpants. I tried to stay with the blue color scheme to honor those two fallen vests of mine. May they rest in peace, but let it be known that you will never see me wearing a vest quite like that again. To replace the vests, I threw on a warm denim jacket and a hat, just to keep up with the current me.
I am so excited to take on this journey again for another semester with CollegeFashionista. Remember to try and stay warm, friends! As all of you Game of Thrones fans know, “winter is coming.”
