My eye for fashion has really been influenced by the women in my family. My aunts, cousins and especially my mother all have an eye for fashion and I always wanted to be like them. My eye for fashion started to develop in middle school and only grew from there.
I only recently started becoming adventurous in my fashion sense. I can not imagine not being adventurous in fashion now because that is what makes it fun! Trying on things that seem kind of crazy and making them into a unique outfit is what I love to do. I also view each day as a new day to try a new style. Part of being adventurous is trying different styles! Each day I’m wearing something new; I don’t have a particular style I just love them all! One day I’ll be super girly, the next I’ll be boho chic, after that grunge and even preppy.
I will be a freshman at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia this fall and will study Marketing and Fashion Merchandising. Although I am not on campus yet, in my visits to Liberty I can tell there is a ton of trend setters and I am so excited to report them to you Fashionistas/os.
I believe that a huge part of fashion is experimenting and finding what works for you! The worst thing that happens with experimenting is that you don’t wear what you didn’t like again. Be bold as well! Don’t do anything half heartedly; do it all out all the time because that is when the best results come. Along with this, don’t be afraid to take compliments! Don’t be shy when someone says they like your outfit, you worked hard on that outfit so take pride in it! I didn’t start doing that until recently and it has been so awesome. It makes me happier and gives me the confidence boost to be bolder in my decisions each morning.
I want to encourage you to make some bold choices this summer and I hope my posts will help you do so. This is going to be a great semester! I will leave you with this thought from Coco Chanel, “Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway.”
