Hey hey Fashionistas! My name is Kathleen Knowles and I am currently a junior at the University of Georgia working towards a major in History and International Affairs with a minor in Fashion Merchandising (I know, weird combination). I am truly thrilled to be a part of CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru intern and to delve deeper into the world of fashion.
When I am not filling in one of the seats of LeConte Hall, you can usually find me exploring and discovering the unique town of Athens. One of the many things I love about the “Classic City” is that it’s acceptable to be whoever you want. In the past two years that I have lived in Athens, I have met so many unique people who share a strong interest in fashion and I cannot wait to share their style, as well as mine, with all of you!
Platform shoes, crop tops and bralettes, are just a few of the many enjoyments of fashion that have consumed my life for as long as I can remember. I cannot begin to count the number of hours I have spent watching Project Runway and What Not to Wear or flipping through Free People and Anthropologie catalogues. Crafting what I am going to wear, whether to class or to go out with friends, has always been one of the most exciting parts of my day.
I like to think I take risks with the clothes I wear. The first piece of clothing I pick up while shopping is always, what I believe to be, the most unique item in the store. I gravitate towards anything vintage, edgy and minimalist. More often than not, I find myself wearing black, white or grey paired with a denim skirt or high-waisted shorts. However, I could never define myself as having one specific style because I truly believe fashion is what you make of it.
Now that I’ve shared my story with you, I cannot wait to showcase the styles of all the other students at UGA! I know this experience is just the beginning of my career in fashion and I am excited to begin my journey as a Style Guru.
