Hey there fellow fashionistas! My name is Katie Baker and I am a junior at the University of Rhode Island. I’m a textile, fashion merchandising, and design major, also pursuing a minor in business administration. Along with that, I participate in Greek life at URI, as well as being a part of the Textile Honor Society. I’m born and raised on Long Island, New York. I love spending my summers at the beach and being able to hop on the train to explore New York City! I’m so excited to combine my love of fashion and writing to represent URI as a Style Guru this semester!
Whether I like to admit it or not, I’m a huge nerd. My favorite thing to do is cozy up with a good book. I love reading and writing, and school always comes first! Since I was little I have always had a love for sports and working out. I even played volleyball at the Division II level for two years before transferring to The University of Rhode Island! I have two older brothers who I have watched play baseball since before I could walk so by default I’m a lover of the game and a huge New York Yankee fan!
I believe that with a fresh manicure and a fabulous outfit anything is possible! My personal style varies anywhere from athleisure to boho-chic to modern contemporary depending on the day. My ultimate love is for shoes, which is fitting being that I have worked at Steve Madden for the last two years! Like my look here? This is a simplistic, modern chic look that is perfect for work or a night out on the town. It’s a cozy turtleneck sweater with slits down the sides paired with a leather mini skirt and black suede over-the-knee boots.
