Hi fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Katie, and I am an incoming junior and studying Marketing with a concentration in Fashion Merchandising at Sacred Heart University, CT. I am very thrilled to be your own personal Style Guru for summer 2016, and to be apart of this RAD experience.
I started to become interested in fashion as I entered my years during high school and continued to do so as a college student. Fashion has been that one aspect in my life where I was able to create my own version of being creative and play around with different styles. Moreover, I started getting into fashion as I entered my first year in college and always went through my different phases for what I liked. All my friends and family would acknowledge the fact how I have such great taste. They would complement me for being so bold in wearing certain outfits; in fact, this inspired me in a way, so I felt so confident in what I wore. This notion about my interest towards fashion made me into person I aspire to be today. I hope to continue growing my knowledge with fashion with all new tips I learn as I endure this journey being a Style Guru.
My utmost favorite trend I’ve seen so far today is jumpsuits. I love this olive green jumpsuit which is simply classy yet chic, comfy and eye-catching. This essential item has been my go-to outfit because it is something that is easily worn whenever or wherever. Also, it can be paired with a simple necklace or bracelet. In this case, I have decided to wear a layered necklace which doesn’t take away too much, but gives the jumpsuit that bohemian vibe. If you’re feeling spontaneous you could wear a fedora hat to add that monochromatic look to complete this outfit, which in my opinion, makes a bold fashion statement. For the summer, it’s all about less layering and adding more accessories to bring the outfit to life. For those warmer days out, I styled the outfit with some dainty tan sandals. Sandals, namely gladiator ones, have become more popular this year and you ought to get your own pair to add style to any plain outfit! These gladiator sandals are comfortable yet stylish on the go for those busy days which won’t have you running. Obviously, I paired my Michael Kors watch to finish off the last part of this outfit to make everything come together perfectly.
Almost any style inspiration from the latest trends can be discovered on any college campus. Specifically at SHU, you can pick up on the diverse styles worn by all college-aged students and how fashion nevertheless plays a “vital” role in how we present ourselves. Although I will not be at campus this summer, I am determined to present to you all types of fashion statements I see from Fashionistas all over, as well as my own. As always, keep styling on!
