Welcome to the spring 2017 semester everybody! This is my second semester being a Style Guru, and I am so thrilled to be back. The enthusiasm and creativity we all share make us one strong group of students and for that, I am proud to be a part of the CollegeFashionista community.
So a little about me! After studying abroad in Florence, Italy at the Istituto Europeo di Design this past fall, I am returning to SUNY Oneonta in Upstate New York. I am a fashion design major. My designs are always geared towards performance wear, minimalism, and silhouettes that make women feel strong. When I am not focusing on design, I enjoy photography a lot. Advertising campaigns really interest me and are something I would love to be in charge of shooting. Being the creative director of a lifestyle or street wear brand would have to be my dream job.
Typically I dress casually. I like to wear unique sneakers and an outfit that compliments them. However, for my bio, I figured I would showcase the European style that I acquired while studying in Europe! My style has grown immensely after the semester abroad. I am definitely more daring and sophisticated in my choices. This stemmed from being surrounded by high-end fashion every day. Currently, I’m pulling major inspiration from Fernando Garcia, the designer of Monse, and Max Gengos. They are two designers who are still a bit off the radar, but their designs are fresh, invigorating, and different, so check them out.
This winter I have become obsessed with faux fur collars. It’s a subtle detail that accentuates your facial features and adds to any outfit. You can find this black sweater with the removable fur detail at Forever 21. I paired it with a simple high-neck bralette and a see-through lace top. This style is a good way to show a little skin and it’s an outfit that can be worn from day to night! I finished the look with distressed mid-rise jeans, a western inspired belt, and a must-have pair of black booties. Be bold and try adding a little faux fur to your next outfit!
