Hello Fashionistas/os! This is my very first CollegeFashionista article and I could not be more thrilled! I look forward to bringing you a sneak peak of the top trends on campus every Monday. Speaking of campus, I’ll be reporting in from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I’m in my last semester this year with a major in Retail, and I also hold a certificate in Entrepreneurship. Post graduation, I plan to break into the fashion industry.
Ever since I was little, I’ve had a love (alright, an obsession) with the fashion and beauty industries. Yes, when I was younger, I lived to dress up, wear my mom’s lipstick, throw her heels on and hobble over to my neighbor’s house to chat. It was all fun and games, and absolutely fabulous. I credit finding my true love for fashion to one of my aunts. She was a stylist for a distinguished company when I was very young and would come and visit a lot. When she came, I fell in love with the elaborate stories she shared, the magnificent photographs she brought and the passion instilled in her eyes. I couldn’t get enough. Needless to say the rest is history…
While there are a plethora of phenomenal fashion icons out there, my idol is Rachel Zoe. Zoe once said: “Style is way to say who you are without having to speak.” I couldn’t agree more and this is one of the many reasons I have a love for fashion; I love the expression of individuality and that it’s empowering and inspiring. That in itself is beautiful. I personally love (especially in a time-crunch) classic, simple styles updated with bold accessories. It’s professional and can easily go from day to night. I showcased my personal style by dressing up a simple black collared top with a statement necklace and gold watch.
I’m ecstatic to begin my adventure as a Style Guru with you all, and to find the top emerging trends on campus this spring!
