Hey, my fellow Fashionistas/os, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Katie McCoy and I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru this semester. I am a junior journalism major at Michigan State University with big dreams to write for fashion magazines such as Vogue or New York Times Style Magazine. My hobbies include reading up on fashion blogs and magazines, watching reruns of Sex and the City or exploring different and unique coffee shops around my area. Ever since I can remember, I have been obsessed with fashion. From reading about it to changing my outfit five times a day, I can easily say that nothing amazes me more than the Fashionista lifestyle.
I am originally from California, but I go to school in the Midwest, so you can imagine the different styles that have inspired me over the years. I firmly believe that no one can have a single sense of style. There is too much fashion influence around the world to stick to one. I would have to say that my style is all over the place. I am influenced by all different types of trends such as retro ’70s, dark chic, flirty, grunge and beyond! I can’t stick to one trend and I love switching it up based on my mood.
For this look, I decided to be classy and girly. I paired this sheer top and pearl collar with distressed boyfriend jeans. Distressed jeans are totally in style right now and you can definitely find them anywhere, they are the perfect staple every girl needs in their closet and they go with everything. I have always believed that when you wear pearls, you have to stick to pearls for accessories. Same with when you wear gold, you cannot wear silver and vice versa. I wore my pearl earrings to complement the pearls on my collar to bring my look all together. With the black in my collar, I decided to wear my black booties to give it a modern look as well as being comfortable.
I look forward to sharing my style with you and growing with CollegeFashionista on the way!
