Hi there, Fashionistas/os, and happy summer! I hope you’re all as excited as I am for sunny weather, beaches and summer fashion. My name is Katie Schwartz and I’m just a 20-year-old college student who’s trying to figure it all out. This upcoming fall I will be transferring to Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, where I’ll be majoring in Communication Studies with a focus in Public Relations. This will be my first semester interning as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista, and I’m delighted to have this opportunity and begin my infinite journey into the realm of fashion.
To state the obvious, I’m an enthusiast of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and all things comparable. I plan to use my knowledge to work towards a career in the fashion industry, where I can be creative, innovative, and work with my favorite form of self-expression: clothing. I’m fixated on capturing moments and telling stories, which is why I’m so excited to dive into photography as a Style Guru. I’m a lover of dogs, social media, tea, traveling and good conversation.
What I’m most excited for this summer is focusing on my own personal style, being inspired by other Gurus, and trying new things. For example, I’d like to work on adding more color into my style. However, I have a slight obsession with monochromatic themes, which is very clear in this outfit. I’m in love with this open shoulder bodysuit from Nordstrom. It’s one of the most unique pieces I own, so I love finding new ways to style it. I decided to pair it with this light wash denim skirt from PacSun to lighten up the look. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available online, but you can find a similar one here. Lastly, hats will ALWAYS be one of my favorite accessories because they’re so versatile; they work with pretty much any outfit for any season of the year. My favorite is this black floppy hat from Topshop.
I believe that fashion is how we get to share our creativity with the world, as it’s the first thing people see when they look at us. What we choose to put on in the morning encapsulates how we feel and allows us to make whatever type of statement we want. I simply can’t wait to see what myself and other Style Gurus are capable of this summer!
