Hello there! My name is Katie Zatyko and I currently studying advertising and marketing communications at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am so honored and thrilled to continue to pursue my love with CollegeFashionista! For me, fashion is a wonderful excuse to creatively express oneself daily and I can’t wait to share this passion with others.
I’ve always had trouble pinpointing my style into one category or trend; it seems to be always evolving and/or containing bits and pieces from various styles to create a one-of-a-kind look. Sometimes I wake up and I feel boho-chic, other days I decide to go completely grunge and sometimes I just need a good cozy athleisure day. Even when I ask my friends to describe my style they just reply saying, “Your outfits are simply Katie.” I’ve always appreciated that aspect of fashion, which can allow one’s outfits to be a snapshot of one’s personality and tastes or it forces others to keep guessing. (I’m sure you know where I stand)!
For the look above, I decided grunge best fit my mood for the day. I did a little DIY and decorated an oversized jean jacket with a variety of pins that reflected some of my interests. Digging into my mom’s closet, I found the perfect pair of high-waisted jeans with a few old paint stains on the front (Who said work pants couldn’t be cute?). I paired those items with a graphic cropped tank top, a tied flannel around my waist, white high top Converse, a moon choker necklace, and round reflective sunglasses. Lastly, I wore dark plum matte lipstick to complete the grunge look.
