Hi everyone, my name is Kayla Hill and I am studying Fashion Marketing and Management at The Art Institute of Seattle. I’m originally from Texas but moved to Seattle four years ago and man has time flown by! I’m so excited to be starting this journey with CollegeFashionista!
My influence for pursuing a career in fashion stems from my parents. When I was little they owned a clothing store. They know all about being a buyer; and my dad would sketch designs. I basically grew up in that store! My fashion style is inspired by what I see in a person, a magazine, online or on television. I love how fashion has become a way to express yourself, its your own personal outlet. That’s why I love reading blogs and seeing what people like to wear; how they wear a piece of clothing I have been eyeing. I literally spend a couple of hours daily or weekly going through a blogger’s website and Instagram.
My style is eclectic. I could be super girly in a dress or skirt one day and be in a relaxed athletic look the next day, it all depends on how I’m feeling that particular day. My favorite piece of clothing are dresses, but since I live in Seattle where its cool and wet 70 percent of the time you need other options. So skinny jeans, leather booties, dark colors and a parka it is!
Since I’m trying to soak up all the good weather Seattle has had this summer I wore this fun bright yellow-green dress, with a colorful floral patterned cross-body purse, and a pair of black booties. The booties add a bit of that classic Seattle vibe to this dress. If the weather had been a bit cooler, I would’ve paired it with a leather jacket. For my accessories I usually wear simple stud earrings, but I decided to add more color with these fun blue earrings and simple gold rings.
Thank you so much for stopping by, can’t wait to have a RAD semester!
