Hey Fashionistas/os, my name is Kaylah Wilson and this will be my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I’m super excited to be joining this #RAD team!
I am a sophomore at Ryerson University in Toronto, completing my undergraduate degree in marketing with a fashion studies minor. Being a part of both my school’s business and fashion programs gives me so many opportunities, like being able to help in the SPLICE pre-show to the annual Mass Exodus Fashion Show put on by the fashion design and communication students. I love meeting new people, so being active on campus gives me the opportunity to do that and also observe the many different styles of our students as they go about their busy days.
I find my inspiration in unique pieces of clothing that an outfit can then be built around. For this outfit, my plaid cropped pants (which I found in my mother’s closet), were what inspired this look. I paired it with a simple fitted white turtleneck; pointed toe ankle boots from Zara; a thrifted faux-fur collared coat and a black fringe backpack. I added some hoop earrings, a little lip balm and voilà! My back-to-school outfit was complete and ready for a jam-packed day on campus!
I’m inspired by my city and my school, which have many diverse people with different styles and it is because of this, that I can be so creative with my own style. I spend so much of my time looking at other people and traveling around the city so it is nice to be able to see something unique in every individual’s outfit.
With every article I intend to give you all a little taste of my life, my school and my city! Im so excited to be starting this year off with all of you, and I hope you’re as excited as me for this #RAD semester!
