STYLE GURU BIO: Keishorea Armstrong

Furry cardigans, knee-high socks and booties? Is it actually time for me to finally pull out these wardrobe essentials? This could only mean one thing; fall is finally here! If you know anything about me then you know that fall is my ultimate favorite season! If you didn’t know that, well allow me to reintroduce myself.

Hello Fashionistas/os, my name is Keishorea Armstrong and I am a junior at Binghamton University. I am a double major in English and African Studies and one of three captains on the Binghamton University Women’s Track and Field Team; Go Bearcats! Though this is my first semester as a member of the CollegeFashionista editorial team, I am currently pursuing my second semester as a Style Guru. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, I remembered that this time around it’s fall! One would think that since I grew up on a small Caribbean island, summer would undoubtedly be my favorite season. However, I suppose that my undeniable love for new experiences has got me falling for fall ( pun intended).

Since ending my summer semester with CollegeFashionista, I’ve learned quite a few things about myself. For one, though my style is continuously evolving, I find myself being the most comfortable in sporty-chic attire (must be an athlete thing). I’ve learned that having a certain style doesn’t necessarily limit your fashion sense. Rather it has developed a sort of fascination with discovering new ways to incorporate my sporty-chic style into every ensemble I create. Secondly, I’ve learned just how powerful a compliment can be. By simply letting a Fashionista or Fashionisto know that you love their outfit just as much, if not more than they do, you might just be giving him or her the added confidence they need to take on the day. Finally, becoming a Style Guru has channeled my inner Tyra Banks. Though I am still working on perfecting my “smize”, I’ve definitely become more comfortable expressing myself. I’ve finally managed to turn “tallgirlproblems” into “tallgirlprofits”. Thus, my first step in getting dressed is clothing myself in pride and dignity before choosing an outfit that best complements my mood.

For today’s look I decided to ring in the fall semester with one last summer ensemble.I paired my favorite floral jumper dress with a simple halter neck crop top. I then accessorized with my new, all-time favorite tote and white Converse; a new addition to my immense sneaker collection. As I usually do, I kept it simple with my jewelry by only wearing a few gold pieces. If you look closely you can also see my favorite floral socks peeking out of my Convser All-Stars. Sometimes, little subtle hints of contrasting color can really help bring the look together.

Well that’s all for now. Be sure to tune in on the first of every month to witness the beauty waiting to be unveiled around the Binghamton University campus!
