Hello everyone! My name is Kelli McCluskey. I am entering my senior year at Boise State University where I’m studying communications. For as long as I can remember, I have loved fashion and every aspect that encompasses what it means to be fashionable. I’m unsure which path I want to pursue in the fashion industry, but I know for certain that I must be a part of it. I am confident that this semester as a Style Guru intern will help me decide, and I am so excited to be apart of the CollegeFashionista team this summer!
I have two older brothers, and I am the youngest child in my entire family. I started playing sports at a young age and could never get enough of them. I enjoyed playing outside and going to soccer practice as a little girl way better than staying inside and playing with toys or even dress up. By the age of 12, I began to share my love for sports with a love for clothing, and my passion has blossomed since then! Loving sports and fashion all of my life has lead me to search for ways to keep my style simple and easy, yet trendy and fun as an athlete.
My passion revolves around the words, “Fashion fades, style is eternal” brilliantly said by Yves Saint Laurent. I believe in the power of a simple staple piece in an outfit and I love keeping the majority of my outfit neutral. After the staple piece, I add a detailed, personal touch throughout the rest of the look to finish it off. Denim is my go-to, whether it be jeans, a jacket or a top. I love the simplicity of denim and the potential it has to be dressed for various occasions, which depends on what I wear with it. You will not catch me leaving the house without my brown leather watch and some type of gold necklace to match with it. To complete the perfectly typical “Kelli” outfit, one must pair these pieces with booties or a fun pair of lace-ups!
While fashion is my life, there are many other activities I love doing. I have accumulated an addiction for working out and spending time outside. Both of these activities are enjoyed much more in the accompaniment of my friends. It fills my heart to help my friends with their outfits, hair and makeup. This reminds me of the creative mind that it takes to be a Fashionista.
I am blessed to be able to contribute my creativity and passion to this world. Plus, I am so grateful to be apart of this team!
