My name is Kelsey Baska, I’m 21 and this is my third semester interning for CollegeFashionista. I’m a rising junior at Johnson County Community College. This spring I’ll be graduating with an associate’s degree before transferring to the University of Kansas where I will pursue a major in Communications and a minor in Journalism. It was a difficult decision to make, but I’m glad I did! Ultimately once I graduate I want to end up working somewhere in the fashion industry.
I’ve recently fallen in love with coffee, socks make me happy and so does really good music. I’m convinced that bold eyebrows rock. I like to read and I like to write. And whenever I watch Kill Bill, I can never decide if I’d rather be Uma Thurman or Lucy Liu (but usually it’s always Uma).
Fashion is the easiest way to express yourself; however, defining your sense of style might seem overwhelming because it’s like we need to decide who we are right now. And it seems like more pressure because we’re in college and adults are always asking us these questions and expect us to explain who we are in a few sentences. As people, we are constantly changing; I don’t know who I am now, let alone where I’ll be in five years. But I do have an idea of what I aspire to be. I don’t know what my sense of style is; I just wear how I feel that day. Sometimes I’m bohemian, sometimes I’m minimalistic, sometimes I’m edgy and sometimes, in all honesty, I just want to wear leggings and an oversized shirt. And that’s okay.
2014 was awesome, but I am so excited for 2015. So here’s to a new year and another semester!
