Goodness gracious, Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Kelsey Keena, and I’m currently a junior at California State University of Fullerton majoring in English/Creative Writing. Living in California has given me the opportunity to be exposed to numerous types of styles, from the beach to the city.
My relationship with fashion may be a bit different from most; I have never considered myself to be a “Fashionista” let alone a Style Guru. However, nothing thrills me more then the confidence that is gained from putting on a new fresh-from-the-store piece of clothing. Having this appreciation for clothes created the shopping addiction, and made me constantly on the look out to feed my collection. However being a college student, I have nearly no budget for clothing. So I started shopping at thrift stores, and tried to make inspired looks from Teen Vogue or what was trending on the runway. Now I’m here writing my first post as a Style Guru! I would have never imagined that this day would be here, but I couldn’t be more excited to share the stories behind not only vintage pieces, but also the people wearing them. My goal with my posts is to show other Fashionistas that style doesn’t have to be about the brands, and how it is possible to get the same looks within the magazines but on a budget.
I consider my style to be fairly minimal, even though I’m notorious for my retro inspired specs; I tend to keep things fairly comfortable. Being a full-time student, I’m constantly on the go, so having an outfit that can transition from day-to-night is extremely crucial. My usual combination would have to be a loose-fit sweater and dark wash jeans.
When I’m not hitting the books, you can usually find me looking for the best latte. Not only am I obsessed with the precision of latte art, but it also happens to be my favorite form of caffeine. After my burst of energy, I love roaming around to local museums and record stores. I am constantly seeking inspiration by the environment and people surrounding me.
I can’t wait to have a fashion filled summer and share it with all of you!
