Happy fall! I’m so excited to be returning as a Style Guru for my fifth term in a row. I’ve got one year behind me and hopefully many more ahead. Going into my sophomore year at the University of Oregon, I am jumping head first into my studies of public relations and advertising. But that won’t stop me from having a little fun! I’m excited to take road trips to the Oregon coast, go to tons of concerts and enjoy my first year completely on my own. My many years of watching the Food Network have prepared me for this.
Aside from being a cooking show connoisseur, I am also a button-down shirt collector. In the last few months, I’ve been falling into suit with the French way of dressing: stripes, loafers and button-downs on the daily. I basically just want to be Jane Birkin or Caroline de Maigret. It’s the kind of shirt I find on the floor just when I thought I had nothing to wear. You can do anything and be anyone when you have a good white button-down. It’s basically become my super suit.
Another one of my favorite things has been bralettes. Being bustier, I never considered them because I never thought they would provide enough support. But there are so many kinds that I finally found one that I love. They are perfect for warm days, sheer shirts and days when you just can’t be bothered (A.K.A. every day), and they’re just so darn pretty.
Bralettes and a white button-down go with just about anything. For fall, I like wearing them with a cute cardigan, some skinny jeans and ballet flats. But for warmer days I like pairing them with some vintage cut-offs and Birkenstocks. A white button-down and bralette are some of the most versatile pieces you can own, and I probably own too many of both.
Fall is my favorite season, and I can’t wait to share my favorite fashions with you all!
