Hey there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos. Bear with me as I try to complete the impossible task of writing about myself. For starters, my name is Kinsey. I’m currently a junior at Indiana University, pursing a degree in journalism. I’m not sure where life will take me, but hopefully it’s to New York City. I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life, so you can probably imagine my desire to replace my view of cornfields with a cityscape. You can usually find me with my camera in one hand and a Coke in the other. (There’s just something about McDonald’s Coke, am I right?) This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I’m so excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team!
Because I joined the CF team, you can probably come to the conclusion that I’m a lover of all things fashion—though I don’t think there are any specific words to describe my style. Eighty-five percent of the time, I’m a huge advocate for an oversized band T-shirt, while the other 15 percent I try to be a little more creative with my outfits. I like to think of my style as ever changing. Typically, it’s based on the mood I’m in that day or whatever Indiana’s bipolar weather is up to. These days, I get a lot of my fashion inspiration from social media. I find that Instagram and YouTube are probably my biggest influences—though I am fascinated with the fashion of the late ’60s and ’70s (there’s just something about the free spirits of that generation).
For this look, I wanted to keep it simple with a little bit of a flare. I chose my favorite pair of black high-waisted jeans that are perfect for any occasion. I added a burnt orange bodysuit with a fuzzy cardigan for a little pizazz. I decided to stick with my go-to accessories: a choker, a zodiac necklace, and my favorite rings. To top the outfit off, I added a pair of black leather booties. This look is fun, yet simple, reflecting my style perfectly.
