Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Kira Pauley and I am a sophomore at the University of Kentucky. I am studying merchandising, apparel, and textiles with minors in business and photography. This semester marks the one year anniversary that I have been writing for CollegeFashionista! I am ecstatic to be apart of this community of people who are hard-working, determined, and of course, fashionable.
I am always finding new things that inspire me and have lately been loving simple beauty in the small details. Kentucky is a small state, but I have fallen in love with the mix between living in the city but also being surrounded by the country. This reminds me of the mix in my style by combining feminine, modern, and vintage styles. There is a part of me that loves trends but another side that could spend hours in consignment shops. The lens I see fashion through is a crazy collaboration between what has been done and what is going to be done. It is amazing to see the ideas from past times, but when we combine them with the new things we have access to today, I think we are able to make something really great.
The velvet trend is huge right now and I am really enjoying it in jackets and accessories, so when I found this jacket from Free People, I knew I had to snag it. I paired it with a striped shirt, a cool pair of cropped denim, and a casual backpack. To top it off, I put my hair in braids and added my signature glasses for a fun look!
