My name is Kristen Shore (although some of my friends call me Kris). In the fall, I will start my second year at the College of Charleston. I’m majoring in Communication with a minor in marketing here and hope to work for a fashion magazine after graduation. I currently work at a fashion boutique in my New York hometown of Huntington and love being able to style people so they can walk confidently into the world. Fashion was my first love and continues to play a prominent role in my life. Growing up, I definitely channeled my inner princess—never leaving the house without a tule skirt and tiara. Even though I’ve (somewhat) outgrown my princess years, I still like to think of every day as a game of dress up! I love mixing classic and trendy pieces to make every outfit I put on one-of-a-kind. I have replaced my childhood tiara with an array of accessories and never leave the house without at least one piece of jewelry (yes, even when I work out!). Right now, I’m loving simple, timeless gold pieces that you can layer. Paired with a silky tank, boyfriend jeans and a pair of strappy sandals, these pieces create an effortlessly chic look. Accessories are the key to pulling together any outfit, and are one of the easiest ways to make an outfit your own.
Within my time at CollegeFashionista, I hope to share my love of fashion. If I’ve learned anything from my childhood princess phase, it would be to forget the rules and just have FUN! Wear the clothes that make you comfortable and confident in your own skin, because that will radiate out into the world. Like the fashion powerhouse (and my personal fashion icon), Anna Wintour said, “Create your own style. Let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.” Find your inner princess and wear that tiara every day, fearlessly.
I can’t wait for a #RAD summer! Be sure to check out the rest of my articles coming this season and follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
