Greetings! My name is Kristine Legaspi and this is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am currently a third year undergraduate business administration student at the University of California Riverside. I have learned a lot in my experience here and I look forward to another great semester!
A simple outfit can look sophisticated when layered properly. I love wearing layers because it adds style and many different dimensions to my outfits. In addition, layers are great for any season because you can always add or remove layers as needed! In the pictures above, I matched a turtleneck, hoodie, flannel, and a coat. In the very cold weather, these were necessary to keep warm and comfortable but I was also able to look stylish! Besides layering, color matching is also important. In many of my outfits, I try to match neutral colors or complementary colors together because these are what appear to be appealing to the eye.
However, if and when you layer, be sure to take into consideration the differences in patterns. Not all patterns match well with each other. And as you can see in the pictures, I was able to have a simple but bold combination of colors and patterns because the red flannel emphasized the other neutral colors.
To this day, I still stand with the notion that confidence is the best thing to wear above all. Wearing confidence promotes the idea that you are comfortable in your own skin and therefore others will see that through you! You can definitely show off your style with that confidence on your sleeves!
