Hi guys! My name is Kyla and I am a junior studying communication and consumer psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. This is my first semester interning as a Style Guru for College Fashionista and I am thrilled to share my fashion and beauty tips and tricks with you all, as well as learn countless new ones!
My interest in fashion grew from my love for all things beauty. When I was just a little girl, I could always be found playing in my mother’s makeup bag. In middle school I sported everything from blue eyeliner to black lipstick. During my sophomore year of high school, YouTube became my television and my makeup bible. I spent years learning everything from how to snatch my brows to how to cut with my contour from the platform’s most skilled beauty gurus. After a while, I ventured outside of the realm of beauty while exploring YouTube and my passion for fashion grew as I learned how to develop my own style through influencers like Shirley B. Eniang, Samantha Maria, and Claire Marshall. Although I don’t have my signature style nailed down yet, I enjoy experimenting with different pieces to create looks that range from ultra glam to edgy and urban. But just like with makeup, there are no rules in fashion; switching things up and doing the unprecedented is always a go!
This is one of my favorite looks because it offers comfort and effortless style. As a busy college student, I am always on the go, so comfortable sneakers are an absolute must! I paired these weightless Nikes with a ribbed mini dress for a sporty chic look, and I added an army green bomber to shield me from Philadelphia’s chilling wind. This chain-linked choker completes the look by adding just enough glam!
