Hello, Fashionistas/os! My name is Lauren, and I am now a second-semester sophomore at St. Bonaventure University. I’m a Journalism/Mass Communications major with unofficial minors in Music, Nonviolence and History (I’ll get around to that paperwork one of these days…). This is my third semester interning as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I am so honored. It’s an amazing opportunity to practice my photography and fashion-writing skills, as well as my people skills, because approaching people I don’t really know is pretty intimidating for an introvert. It’s definitely getting easier, though.
This winter, I am all about sweaters. Sweaters with jeans, sweaters with skirts, sweaters with dresses sweaters with basically anything. They make me feel so cozy and happy, whether they are adorned with a print or a solid color. I keep telling myself I’m not allowed to buy more sweaters, but alas, my will is weak. I love adding scarves, chunky necklaces or layered necklaces to make a basic sweater more interesting.
For shoes, I wear boots all winter and even for a lot of the summer. I mainly pick boots in browns or blacks, and I prefer them to be ankle boots or very short booties with a flat heel. I love Chelsea boots and lace-up boots. To style my boots, I usually wear them with a chunky sock that I pull up above the top of the boot, and then I roll up my skinny jeans to display the combination. Either that, or I layer the socks and boots over tights when I’m wearing a dress or skirt.
Accessories-wise, I say go big or go home. The more big, chunky rings at once, the better. The chunkier the necklace or the more that I can layer on, the cooler. The thicker the scarf and the more times I can wrap it around my neck, the cuter. I’m not big on bracelets because I don’t like them sliding up and down my arms, but I do enjoy a cute bangle. In general, I like my accessories to add a bohemian touch to my outfits. And I’m still trying to get up the courage to wear hats in public. I love beanies, bowler hats and big, floppy hats. Also, I have been loving experimenting with darker lip colors. Media by MAC is my current favorite.
I can’t wait to share the amazing style on the St. Bonaventure University campus with you.
