STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Zillinger

Hello everyone! I would just like to start off by saying I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester. It’s going to be a great semester for many reasons, this opportunity being one of them. First, a little background about myself: I’m a senior international studies major at West Virginia University. I love photography, especially fashion street style photography (my idol is Tommy Ton). Fashion has always been a passion of mine, from reading Vogue to following so many fashion blogs it’s hard to count them all. When I’m not taking pictures or scrolling through my favorite blogs Instagram accounts, I like to be outside with my dog or cuddled up watching funny a T.V. show or a Wes Anderson film.

My personal fashion taste? If you ask my friends, they’ll immediately tell you I have a coat/jacket addiction. Since West Virginia University tends to get freezing winters, I own many coats and wear all of them. I also have many pairs of boots for the same reason. I use coats and boots as my statement pieces for most of my outfits, including the one pictured above. Sunglasses and lipstick are go-to accessories for me as well. I tend to stick to neutral and solid colors for my outfits.

What really inspires me is traveling and being able to see how cultures affect fashion, design, art, as well as everyday life. I love how every place has a unique feel and aesthetic. Fashion is global and unites people from all over the world. Being able to bond with people from different places by talking about trends, outfits, or styles always teaches me something new and normally results in new friendships as well. I was able to study abroad in France last year and now this semester I will be studying at the University of Hertfordshire, which is located right outside of London in the U.K. Not only will I get to experience living in a new culture, but also be able to travel all over Europe and report on their insanely stylish fashion trends. It will be an amazing adventure that I’m glad I get to share with all of you!
