One semester of being a CollegeFashionista and look how time flies- we are already onto the next! The first time I introduced myself I told you to imagine a sweet ice cream that was a wacky, but stellar flavor. But now we’ve evolved to a scoop of ice cream on top of a crepe (am I making your hungry yet?). Still embodying the chill refreshing flavor of a sweet sensation, but with my second semester I’ve elevated into something with a bit more finesse. Similarly with my style, I’ve learned to stick with being classy without compromising my identity. No matter how colorful the sprinkles or atypical the flavor.
So with that, let me introduce myself for those who don’t know me. My name is Lea, but I also go by Sunshine and I am an incoming sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania. I (intend to) study marketing, communications and operations at The Wharton School. When you look at the typical student body at my business school, you definitely won’t find too many people who know for a fact that their life is on the path towards a fashion-related career. But hey, that’s what makes it more fun for me. I take the business foundations and analytic skills I learn and apply them to style and the fashion industry.
Along with that first year in school, I’ve seen way too many people lose their sense of style to fit into what they think is trendy. Yes, minimalist black and white is beautiful, but it’s not the only option out there. If you want to wear plaid over a flowy white dress, you do it if it makes you happy. Wear socks that go below your knee if you want to. Whatever makes you happy, you should own it and wear it with pride. Because the best outfits aren’t the most expensive or the fanciest; they are the ones that make you the happiest.
