Hello my fellow Fashionistas, welcome back to my profile! I am ecstatic to be a Style Guru again for the second semester, and show you comfortable yet elegant and classic looks that you can recreate throughout this winter and spring. I am originally from Potomac, Maryland and I am currently attending James Madison University. I am a junior with a major in communication studies with a concentration in public relations and a minor in Spanish.
Before we get into the outfit details and outfit advice, I will reintroduce myself a little to refresh everyone and give the new readers a glimpse into my personal life. The area where I grew up in is very fashion-oriented. Mostly everybody looks put together, and going out in sweatpants is a no-go. I went to a small all-girls private Catholic high school, which I loved, but we had uniforms. This meant that on a daily basis I could not express myself through fashion, which is one of my favorite things (what can I say? The passion for fashion is a real thing). Also, I went straight to dance practice every day after school since I was on a competitive dance company my whole life. Regardless of having to wear uniforms, I would always try to incorporate something different and unique into my look for school that represents me. For example, I would curl my hair and apply some light makeup along with my favorite jewelry. By doing so, it allowed me to show my very girly style while still wearing a uniform.
Now in college, I love being able to dress up for class and play around with different looks because I believe that the way you dress says a lot about you.
Since I grew up dancing competitively, I refused to start my college experience without dance as a part of my daily routine, so I joined the Madison Dance team, which I love. I am also the director of media relations for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
Overall, my style could be classified as girly, trendy, and sophisticated. Most of the time I tend to dress a little over the top for several occasions (my friends can back this up), due to my love for heels and all things glamour. Although dressing up is always fun for me, sometimes all you need is a pair of comfy jeans and a staple plain white t-shirt.
I get tons of my inspiration from celebrities, specifically from Beyonce, Kendall Jenner and more, so I try to recreate their looks while adding my own taste, which is one of my favorite ways to explore new looks and styles.
Want to recreate my look? Get a simple black off the shoulder top, a comfy pair of mom jeans, a stylish double buckle belt, and my favorite part, suede black ankle booties. Don’t forget to add a staple faux fur coat and a rhinestone choker to bring the look together!
By now you all have a better idea of who I am. Hopefully throughout my time at CollegeFashionista, you will be able to get outfit inspiration ranging from everyday looks to what to wear for a night out. I look forward to continuing this journey with you all!
XOXO
