Im back! I’m so excited to be returning to CollegeFashionista for a second semester as a Style Guru. To make this even better, I am thrilled to be writing about my favorite season of the year: summer! Although to be fair, most of the year in Southern California is a variation of summer weather.
What I most look forward to this summer is being able to pull out all of the dresses, shorts and skirts that have been hiding in my closet during this unusually cold spring in SoCal.
Looking back between now and the first time writing for CollegeFashionista, I’m very happy with the growth and knowledge I have gained, much due to my time as a Style Guru.
Going back to my first posts, I find that my own style and photography have become a reflection of my own personal maturity and experience. I have gone from sometimes sacrificing fit or personal taste in order to wear something that stood out more. The same change can be seen in my photography as now I can see how things such as lighting and angles can really play into getting a good picture of your subject.
Today, I gravitate more towards the motto that simplicity is key and have grown fond of using more white and black pieces and accenting them with a feature piece and accessories. My style inspirations have shifted from Betsey Johnson to The Row. Although, I will always love the punk princess look.
Adding to my style change is the experience I have gained by completing my first year in college. With the task of getting accustomed to the school routine and all of the inspiration from the incredible Fashionistas/os at California State University, Long Beach, this year has influenced me for the better. Nowadays, I have to be more creative about picking an outfit that not only fits my style but is practical for my day.
All in all, I am happy with everything that I have learned from CollegeFashionista and here’s to all the great things to come in this summer adventure!
