Hello there! I’m Lexie Lyons, and I am currently a senior at the Ohio State University majoring in Marketing and International Business.
Fashion and I go way back. I think my parents knew they were in trouble when they asked three-year-old me, “Lexie, what sneakers would you like?” and I responded with, “The ones with the ‘Swoosh’!” Or maybe it was that time when I was two and plopped a Coach bag in my stroller causing my mom to run back to the store in a panic to return the object of my affection. Either way, you get the idea!
Over the years I have moved all around the country a total of seven times. This has allowed me to do two things: 1. Learn to become very adaptable in any situation, and 2. Witness and characterize how people dress in different regions. I think the latter has really helped shaped my sense of style and has pushed me to think outside of the box when pairing outfits. Although I have not had a formal education in fashion and retail, I have decided to apply my personal and professional experience to the retail industry after I graduate. Last summer, I was lucky enough to have a chance to work in the fashion industry and I quickly realized that I could easily apply my majors and personal interests to a job that I will actually enjoy! After this realization, I have been more obsessed with fashion and the industry than ever before, and I am excited about its prospects.
My personal style can be characterized with a lot of pastels, denim and florals. I’m most inspired by the ’60s and I think any outfit stimulated by that decade is timeless. Presently, I am intrigued by the athliesure trend taking retailers by storm, the newfound versatility of essentials and minimalism—all of which you can look forward to being featured in my posts in this coming semester.
