My name is Li-Shan Jordan and I am studying advertising and marketing communications at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am a New York native and have bounced around the boroughs and Long Island. Fashion and writing are two things that have been apart of my character since I was a child. Having a teacher for a mother, I was taught (aka forced) to read and write before any of my friends were. I would create pages of chicken-scratch stories that probably made absolutely no sense, but everyone would have to read it.
I’d say that my love for fashion comes from my family. Before you’re at the age where you can pick out your own clothing, your parents do it for you. Coming from a huge family, and being the youngest at the time, I was practically swimming in clothing. My favorite throwback outfit was a long sleeve Peter Pan collar top, plaid shift dress and of course my Mary Janes.
Now that I’ve come into my own, I have my own fashion sense. I like to describe my style as minimal, classic and effortless. My go-to outfits typically feature simple silhouettes and basic colors (white, black, neutrals). From time to time I do enjoy pops of color in the accessories I wear. I have a knack for mixing fast fashion and thrifted pieces to create looks that fit into an entirely different category.
The most important aspect of my style is the attitude it comes with. I strongly believe that your outward appearance reflects your inner emotions. If you feel good, you’ll look good. If you feel confident, you’ll look confident.
